Gjor Mennos (pronounced Gh-YORR-hh, but more commonly GUY-or by non-dwarves) is the High Lord of Menendras in service to the King of the Sword.
In 1080 GC, he was banished from his homehold as a Rhot sn Jek (wandering son), charged to find his own glory or die trying. He risked one and accomplished the other, uncovering the riches and legacy of the House of Mennos, to which he had an ancestral claim. By 1099, he was Lord of the Arnroc, and by 1124, High Lord of Menendras, which he has remained since.
In 75 years as high lord, he has outlived every other high lord of the realm. He has served no fewer than ten Supreme Potentates, and has had over five dozen lords swear fealty to him. He has won innumerable battles, but has also suffered greatly, losing three wives and all nine of his children to various wars, plagues, and acts of God.
Though strong and vigorous in his advancing age, Gjor has sworn not to take another wife nor father another son, claiming to be cursed. He remains heirless, and instead seeks what he calls "the will of God" in securing a legacy when he inevitably passes. This is not an event many wish to see, as he has been a pillar of stability in the past century, commanding Obrith's mightiest army and securing its wealthiest port. Many worry the chaos that could erupt in the wake of his death would lead Obrith to ruin, and perhaps even mean greater woe still for the realms of Man, as Obrith stands vanguard against Kurnish invasion and guards the Ghostwall.
